Milwaukie, Oregon is best known for its many dogwood trees and as the birthplace of the Bing cherry. Milwaukie is a suburb of Portland, with a strong real estate market that is located south of the larger city along the Willamette River. Among these are the annual Umbrella Parade and Winter Solstice Celebration in December, as well as the First Friday art events showing during the summer months. Milwaukie is also home to a seasonal farmers' market, an historic grain mill, and several wineries. Of course, nearby Portland offers a myriad of additional attractions, including the Picton Manor, the Portland Museum of Art, the Portland Children's Museum, and the Oregon Historical Museum.

Residents living in Milwaukie will find a variety of restaurants, cafes, and coffee houses at their fingertips. This Clackamas County community is home to a number of local favorites, such as Grammas Corner Restaurant for comfort food, Ohana Hawaiian Cafe for Polynesian fare, King Curry Thai Cafe, and Cha! Dark Horse Comics, best known for its Hellboy and Sin City series, was founded in Milwaukie in 1986 and remains one of the city's most notable entities.
